Join us for our monthly Museum opening on the 3rd Sunday of each month, from 2-4 PM, featuring our first Centennial Exhibit for 2022 – the Roaring 20s.
The 1920s in Stoneham saw events such as the town’s 200th anniversary, the purchase of its first motorized fire truck, the “Hiker” statue, and of course, the founding of the Stoneham Historical Society in 1922.
Wider events saw the election of Massachusetts governor Calvin Coolidge as US President, the collapse of Charles Ponzi’s fraud scheme, Prohibition, dropped waists and short skirts in women’s clothing, creating the iconic figure of the flapper, and the stock market crash in 1929.
