Special lecture from Stephen Puleo, April 29 at the Stoneham Senior Center.
Award-winning historian Stephen Puleo is the author of The Great Abolitionist, Voyage of Mercy, A City So Grand, The Boston Italians, and Dark Tide. His talk will focus on Massachusetts Senator Charles Sumner – whose vicious beating by an advocate of slavery in the Senate Chambers of the US Capitol building stunned 19th America & was a key event on the road to the US Civil War.
Note: This event will be held at the Stoneham Senior Center at 136 Elm Street. Free admission but donations are welcomed.
