“Are you going to Scarborough Fair…parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme” was gently heard echoing through the hallways of the Stoneham Historical Society & Museum on a recent June evening. The English(or some argue Scottish) ballad can be traced as far back to 1670, was one of the traditional Olde English tunes sweetly sung by a Colonial trio from the “Merry Minstrels” at our Member and Donor Appreciation night at the Museum.
The Donor and Member Appreciation Night was to honor the SHSM’s donors and dedicated members who provide the support that enables the Society & Museum to offer a wide array of historical programs to local residents and to cover the day-to-day operational costs.
While being entertained by a trio of balladeers dressed in Colonial garb, light refreshments were enjoyed and a lovely warm breeze greeted the attendees on a tour of the 10-footer–many whom had never had the opportunity to view the inside of our treasured shoe house.
We would like to thank all of our members, donors and volunteers and Merry Minstrels for their continued support of the Society & Museum. For all of you who were able to celebrate with us–we are eternally grateful!
