The Stoneham Historical Society & Museum’s 3rd Sunday Open House is on December 15th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Although the monthly Open House is free and open to the public, SHSM is collecting cans of food to donate to local Stoneham food banks, so we encourage you to support this worthy cause.
It’s that time of year when many nonprofit groups are lobbying for year-end charitable donations and its challenging to make a choice as there are so many worthy causes. The Stoneham Historical Society & Museum–a nonprofit (501c3) organization serving the Stoneham community since 1922, provides a way to shop “local” and make a difference in the community.
If you make a charitable donation of $30 or more to the SHSM you will receive a complimentary copy of “Images of America–Stoneham.” This fascinating 128 page pictorial history of the town is by former “town historian” and beloved Stoneham teacher Joanne Harriman. This limited edition paperback is our gift to you, but also a perfect gift for regifting for that lifelong Stonehamite, your new to town neighbor or favorite teacher.
Another way to show your support is via Annual Membership. Consider a membership for your own family or gift a membership to someone who will appreciate it. For those interested in the purchase of an individual membership, you are eligible to purchase the Stoneham book for half price for $10. Certificates of membership are suitable for personalization, included in all Gift Memberships and promptly delivered. In either case, stop by the Museum on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., contact us by phone at 781-572-3126, email stonehamhistory@gmail.com or online at stonehamhistoricalsociety.org.
The SHSM Gift Shoppe is a new edition to the SHSM. Located inside the Museum, it features a wide variety of Stoneham memorabilia. Choose from ceramic mugs proudly featuring the Shoe House logo, commemorative Shoe House plaques, Weiss Farm milk bottles, and reprints of the 1878 map of Stoneham (suitable for framing). In addition to Sunday, the SHSM Gift Shoppe will be open on Tuesday, December 17 from 10:00 a.m. – Noon. for your shopping convenience.
The mission of the SHSM is: to study the history of the Town of Stoneham; to collect and preserve articles of historic interest pertaining to the town; and to maintain a Historical Library and Museum. It is your Museum–help us preserve and maintain it for future generations. The Museum is located at 36 William St., Stoneham.
