America 250 Picnic on the Common
Bring a picnic and enjoy free family-friendly games, crafts, reenactors, and period craft demos July 18th on Stoneham Town Common. Stoneham is celebrating 250 years of the United States of America. This will be fun for the whole family.
Reading of the Declaration of Independence at Noon from the Gazebo, followed by a patriotic singalong.
Make your own tri-corner hat, practice writing with a quill pen, play “throw the tea in the Harbor,” learn militia drum commands, and watch period demos such as spinning or candle-making. Pose with our giant 4 foot feather pen as you pretend to sign your “John Hancock” to America’s founding document, see the traveling “Tiny 1o-footer” shoe house, and much more.
We have 250th souvenir copies of the Declaration for the first 250 people.
Jointly sponsored by the Stoneham Historical Society & Museum and the Stoneham Historical Commission.
