Throwback Thursday: PHOTOS Closure of the Bank of America Branch on Main Street

Thursdays are for throwbacks, so here’s a look back at the closure of the Bank of America branch on Main Street in 2021, which left the future of the historic “Stoneham, Yesterday and Today” mural by artist Richard M. Gibney unknown.

It was in the fall of 2021, that Stoneham Historical Society and Museum and Stoneham Historical Commission volunteers Bee Russo, Angela Binda and Marcia Wengen decided to take action and began to raise the funding necessary to secure ownership of the mural, before having it cleaned, repaired, restored and once again displayed for public viewing.

Today, Russo, Binda and Wengen have raised more than $146,428 toward these efforts.
