SHSM Invites Community Members Back to Open House and Museum Opening

STONEHAM –Treasurer Bee Russo is pleased to share that the Stoneham Historical Society and Museum (SHSM) will be hosting its monthly open house for the first time since June.

WHEN:

Sunday, Sept. 17 from 2-4 p.m.

WHERE:

Stoneham Historical Society and Museum, 36 William St.

WHAT:

The Stoneham Historical Society and Museum would like to invite community members of all ages to attend its monthly open house this weekend.

This will be the first time the Museum will welcome guests since building renovations began to prepare the space for the installation of the historic mural, “Stoneham Yesterday and Today.”

Throughout the summer, 17 original windows were covered with new walls, providing the necessary space to hang the mural as well as protect both it and other artifacts in the museum from light damage. In addition to the construction of new walls, additional electrical outlets were installed, and floors were refinished in order to transform the space to resemble a more traditional museum.

During the open house, participants will have the opportunity to see the newly renovated museum space and view permanent exhibits and local artist Sheila Foley’s conception of the installation of  “Stoneham Yesterday and Today.”

This event is free to attend and no registration is required.
